lighting practise

Lighting Practise

3- point fall lighting
3 lights create a normal looking scene with soft shadows and average colours. Using a 3 light soft set up to provide normal lighting across an entire object, the exact opposite of chiaroscuro. This is used in the most 'normal' scenes with any object in focus.

Chiaroscuro lighting
Chiaroscuro is characterised by harsh lighting that creates an extreme contrast between different areas of the shot, such as a characters face.

High key lighting
Uses harsh bright lights to reduce contrast in a scene, giving a scene a white washed, clean look that does not have any shadow in frame.

Back lighting
When the scene is lit directly from behind, usually some form of natural light, where it is used to create a silhouette. It is most common in romantic films.

Natural Lighting
Coming from the sun. Light source from a yellow or white hue. Used in combo with other light effects ( 3-point fill)

Artificial Lighting
Man-made light sources, such as light bulbs or fluorescent light. Used in combo with other lighting effects (3- point fill).

The Fall

 The Fall

Although I completed this as part of my study of the representation of gender for my AS exam, it is relevant to the my coursework as, in planning for this, I will need to consider how the representation of gender is constructed through the use of camera shots, mise-en-scene, editing and sound. This will hopefully enable me to represent characters in a variety of different ways
in my film opening.

The link below takes you to the power point.

Preliminary evaluation

Preliminary Task Evaluation

Our group decided not to do question six in the video as it is personal to us.

6.  Evaluate your contribution to the group's work.

In my group i did a variety of different jobs. Them being, help plan the equipment and locations for the film, Contribute to the filming and editing and play one of the characters in it. We all contributed to the filming and editing of it, and each had a go at all the different jobs involved.
I believe i was flexible in the task as i had a go at everything and tried to excel in them. Because of this i have learned many new skills such as, filming techniques, storyboarding and locations, and editing on specific software.
I think we worked really well as a group, as we all shared the workload, so that one person wasn't doing more than than the other. But we also all contributed well to ideas, and listened to each other therefore avoiding any tension with conflicting views
